Ao longo do último século a questão da identidade nacional na arquitectura produzida em Portugal tem sido alvo de intensa discussão e polémica. Sempre que a arquitectura disputa outros espaços que não o de executante de um desígnio nacional ou nacionalista, emerge uma tentativa de identificar o que é a boa "arquitectura portuguesa" como forma de controlar o potencial emancipador inerente à disciplina.

Southern European countries were among the hardest hit by the 2008 economic crisis. In response to the economic pressure, declining public services and drastic unemployment situation generated by the crisis and the corresponding public policies, the Southern regions of the continent became terrains of experiments in self-organisation and gave birth to new forms of the civic economy. In this contribution, Tiago Mota Saraiva analyses the consequences of austerity policies on Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain, focusing on how people tried to create networks of solidarity and resistance.

It is wrong to declare that there is no work for architects in any country currently undergoing financial devastation. In Portugal, architecture will have a future as long as it understands that in the next few years it has to work detached from markets, and mostly against their will.

Ao longo de doze anos de prática profissional regular, o ateliermob tem vindo a trilhar um caminho no qual se procuram alargar os limites da prática e respetivas áreas de influência. A partir da descrição de um contexto particularmente adverso e do registo da sua atividade ao longo dos últimos anos, elenca-se um conjunto de projetos e processos destinados e produzidos com grupos sociais de baixos recursos e elevadas carências materiais.

Higher education degrees in Fashion and Textile Design are relatively recent in Portugal, however, advances in the Textile and Clothing Industry, regarding technological innovation, are increasingly fast and demanding. On the other hand, particularly in the consumer society-the individual-aspires to the consumption of products that correspond to innovations and that can improve their quality of life, without neglecting environmental, social and economic concerns. Considering the importance of Fashion and Textile products under this perspective, this research evidences it as its universe of study. Thus, it is important to consider the academic curricula in the field of Fashion and Textile Design, in order to proceed with its analysis, and contribute with some suggestions for the improvement regarding this change fostered not only by the industry but also by the consumers' desires.
