ABSTRACT
This research aims to investigate the presence and action of Galeria de Arte Celina in the cultural context of Juiz de Fora, a city in Zona da Mata, Minas Gerais State, in the 1960s untill 1970s. Everything happens in a turbulent period marked deeply for utopias and ideological clashes lived in conflict with obscurantism generated by the military dictatorship. This reflection outlines itself with anthropological profile, capable of establishing relations between the stemming narratives memories from the several subjects involved. This collective memory allow us to bring to the surface, the living history that is still being immersed in the universe of this generation of intellectuals and artists. It is about a cultural space that holds a difference in relation to other existing galleries in the country during the period of this temporal cut. Its character of originality, creativity and the aura that spread to a generation in political repression times, favors the knowledge of artistic trajectory in Juiz de Fora and some of their social actors. The Gallery, founded by Bracher family is a representative milestone in the culture of concrete initiatives, coming from a reasoned idealism of a vision and consciousness of this artistic family in disseminating and promoting the art of joint form: in community. It became imperative, the need to bring international, national and local painters, courses, cinema, theater, performances, music, debates, etc., that converged to the realization of the ideal to make possible for the varied audience to know and breathe art. The Galeria de Arte Celina is a place of memory: a utopian Gallery. That is why we understand that the word ideal which is in the title of the thesis, has its most canonical sense: gathers the desires, the aspirations, goals, objectives and programs that are part of a time, from one generation.

We intend to present a work done with classes of students of the 4th year of Elementary
School I in Brazil, at Colégio de Aplicação João XXIII (Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora). The theme — tree — had been proposed in class, as a triggering element of the process. As a kind of methodology and practice, this process can be applied to other topics in class, involving art and the spatial perception of the student universe.

This article intends to reflect on the issues surrounding the CCB’s  curatorial projects based on research and an interview with the President of the Fundação Centro Cultural de Belém and the Administrative Council: Elísio Summavielle. This approach will focus on the challenges of curatorship and the future possibilities of cultural management.

Resumo: Este artigo pretende refletir sobre as questões que envolvem os projetos de curadoria do CCB, a partir de pesquisa e de uma entrevista com o Presidente da Fundação Centro Cultural de Belém e do Conselho de Administração: Elísio Summavielle. Esta abordagem terá como foco principal os desafios da curadoria e as posiibilidades futuras da gestão cultural.

This article aims to think over the artistic process of two brothers of Valcamonica, Italy, in profound dialogue with nature: Jack Belmondo and Arturo Belfiore Mondoni. Immersed in this natural environment, the permanent interaction between the artists and the historical-archaeological context favours the appropriation of materials and techniques that the territory offers. Resumo: Este artigo tem como objetivo refletir sobre o processo artístico de dois irmãos de Valcamonica, Itália, em profundo diálogo com a natureza: Jack Belmondo e Arturo Belfiore Mondoni. Imersos neste ambiente natural, a interação permanente dos artistas com o contexto histórico-arqueológico favorece a apropriação de materiais e técnicas que o território oferece. Esta conexão se traduz na expressão criativa e na força de suas obras.

This project was developed with students of 8th-grade from Colégio dos Jesuítas's Elementary School II, Juiz de Fora, Brazil. The intention is to reflect on how students, based on a sensitization, appreciation and contextualization, related to a thematic proposed by the teacher, develop their own ideas in groups, for the accomplishment of collective artistic works, where the authorship becomes diluted.

Resumo: Este foi um projeto desenvolvido com alunos de 8º ano do Ensino Fundamental II no Colégio dos Jesuítas de Juiz de Fora, Brasil. Pretende-
se refletir sobre como os alunos, a partir de uma sensibilização, apreciação e contextualização, relacionadas a uma temática proposta pelo professor, desenvolvem ideias próprias em grupos, para a realização de trabalhos artísticos coletivos, onde a autoria se torna diluída.

This article aims to reflect on the religious phenomenon and the sacred that encompasses the atmosphere of faith and devotion in Juazeiro do Norte, in the state of Ceará, Brazil. Through the embroidered, words woven and the master Griô’s narrative – ‘Dona Fanca’, the pilgrimages and the sanctuary of Padre Cícero demonstrate the look of one who makes from the narratives, its manual work, of witness of faith.

Resumo: Este artigo tem como objetivo refletir sobre o fenômeno religioso e o sagrado que abrangem a atmosfera de fé e devoção em Juazeiro do Norte, no estado do Ceará, Brasil. Através dos bordados, palavras tecidas e narrativas da Mestra Griô – ‘Dona Fanca’, as romarias e o Santuário de Padre Cícero evidenciam o olhar de quem
faz da narrativa, seu oficio manual de testemunho da fé.

This article presents the reflection of Brazilian plastic artist Semea Kemil. Through art, she brings a re-signification of natural matter , blending it with materials that she recycles and re-uses in her experiments and processes. Semea sensitizes herself to the idea of Nature's identity and acts as a symbolic mediator. Her metaphorical gaze shifts to matter discarded by man, which is reconfigured as the possibility of establishing a bond or rethinking Nature. Resumo: Este artigo apresenta a reflexão da artista plástica brasileira Semea Kemil. Através da arte, ela traz uma resignificação para a matéria natural, mesclando-a com ma-teriais que ela recicla e reaproveita em suas experimentações e processos. Semea sensibi-liza-se com a ideia de identidade da Natureza e atua como uma mediadora simbólica. Seu olhar metafórico se desloca para a matéria descartada pelo homem, que é reconfigurada como uma possibilidade de estabelecer um vínculo ou de repensar a Natureza. Abstract: This article proposes a reflection on the landscape as a concept, in the artistic work of Ilídio Salteiro, from ten paintings, of different series. It is intended to analyze how this landscape
coexists with architecture, which sometimes disappears and transmutes into imaginary topographies. How can the contemporary painting be an exercise of ‘Religare?’.

The purpose of this study is to analyze, through Schiller’s perspective, the question of man in relationship with the absolute, considering the action of beauty: an instrument of human elevation. The aesthetic, moral and religious spheres are intimately connected in the masterpiece On the Aesthetic Education of Man in a Series of Letters which, inspiring this research, points to a transformation horizon through aesthetic which promotes civilization. According to the author the way man passes through until he meets his final goal, even if unachievable, is a tendency that is carried inside himself, as a capacity of self transformation. Beauty emerges as the key to harmony and mediation. The way passed through from the physical man to the aesthetic one and, soon, to the moral one can lead him to meet the world moral author.

Resumo: Este estudo tem o propósito de analisar, sob a perspectiva de Schiller, a questão do homem e sua relação com o absoluto, mediante a atuação da beleza: instrumento de elevação humana. As esferas da estética, moralidade e religiosidade encontram-se intimamente entrelaçadas na obra A educação estética do homem numa série de cartas que, inspirando esta pesquisa, aponta um horizonte de transformação, através de uma estética civilizadora. Segundo o autor, o caminho que o homem percorre para o encontro de sua meta final, mesmo que inatingível, é uma tendência que carrega em si próprio como potencialidade de autotransformação. A beleza surge como chave para harmonização e mediação. O caminho percorrido, do homem físico para o estético e, logo a seguir, para o homem moral pode levá-lo ao encontro do autor moral do mundo.

We intend to reflect on the teaching of Portuguese Art History and the importance of this discipline in the knowledge of a culture, from the analysis of the works presented by students of the Degree in Portuguese Studies, University Mohammed V in Rabat. For Walter Benjamin (1987), the soul, the eye and the hand are enrolled in the
same field and the interaction between them, define a practice. The real story is a practice that is not unique voice: gestures decisively involved in the expression of this handmade relationship. The experiences of the narrator and the other creates a “solid, useful and unique product.” When transporting this view to the Art and Patrimony, aims to
analyze how the artist can be a narrator and his useful and unique product takes place
through drawings that express the voice of indigenous cultures.

Resumo: Para Walter Benjamin (1987), a alma, o olho e a mão estão inscritos no
mesmo campo e a interação entre eles, definem uma prática. A verdadeira narração
é uma prática que não é exclusiva da voz: os gestos intervêm decisivamente na expressão desta relação artesanal. As experiências do narrador e as dos outros criam um “produto sólido, útil e único”. Ao transportar este ponto de vista à Arte e ao Patrimônio, pretende-se analisar como o artista pode ser um narrador e seu produto útil e único se realizar através de desenhos, que expressem a voz de culturas indígenas.

The aim of this paper is to follow, the conceptual exercise of Brazilian artist, Freder-ico Merij in developing of a book of loose sheets which became the central point-the focus of the exhibition-"Del classic gusto español," held at the Museum of Modern Art Murilo Mendes, (MAMM) in the year of 2012, in Juiz de Fora city, Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Verify 'deconstruc-tions-displacements and dis-placements' in the artist's creative process will lead to the following analysis: This artist's book can be considered a not organic work, from the perspective of Peter Burger? What is the importance of the collector look in the artistic process? These slides-loose pages-emancipate themselves from the whole that is the book? Resumo: O objetivo deste artigo é acompanhar o exercício conceitual do artista plástico brasileiro Frederico Merij na elaboração de um livro de lâminas soltas que se tornou ponto central — o foco da exposição — “Del clássico gusto español,” realizada no Museu de Arte Moderna Murilo Mendes, (MAMM), no ano de 2012, na cidade de Juiz de Fora, estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Verificar ‘desconstruções — deslocamentos e des-colamentos’ no processo criativo do artista conduzirá à seguinte análise: este livro de artista pode ser considerado uma obra não orgânica, sob a perspectiva de Peter Bürger? Qual a importância do olhar colecionador neste processo artístico? Estas lâminas — páginas soltas — se emancipam do todo que é o livro?

Drawing is understood as a means of foundational expression of artistic activity and as the most effective tool to access the representation. The paradoxical situation of drawing and painting remaining as taxonomically diferent activities, since there are approximations by practice while subsisting as actions described differently, requires a theoretical review from within the artistic practice in the context of studio practice. The gap between drawing and painting, stimulates demand for a change of procedures within the art project. In the territory of figuration, universe in which the artistic project is developed, it is necessary to find an element that allows this approach. The connection between drawing and painting is questioned based on three main ideas: the relationship between drawing typologies and painting, drawing protagonism within the hierarchical work established by historical practices of painting, and visual participation of drawing in the finished painting. Drawing is considered as belonging to a tradition which becomes active through its reassessment by working in the studio with the potential to reconfigure the territory of painting. In this case the support, as the first distinctive feature of the two practices, is thought of as a continuous territory through the action that is developed on it. In this sense, the modest character of the paper works as a model for the work on canvas that becomes materially rarefied. The line is understood as an element that inhabits the drawing and painting using different graphic expressions. It is understood that through the intervention of brush you can find a common configuration for both practices. The characteristics of the material and support are no longer relevant in the classification of a work as drawing or as painting, this function being assigned to the graphic element that builds the representation, in this case the line drawn with a brush. By using the line as painting’s building element it becomes potentially a hybrid entity, which is necessary to understand as an extended field of drawing practice.

RESUMO

O texto é construído como uma reflexão pessoal de um desenhador que simultaneamente produz desenho e pensa sobre a tradução da realidade que decorre dessa prática artística. Proponho uma inventariação das linhas tracejadas encontradas nos ambientes que frequentamos e nos objetos que manuseamos para entender as suas potencialidades de integração e tradução visual. Por outro lado, analiso o corpo de trabalho de artistas que utilizam a linha tracejada, pontual ou continuadamente, procurando entender as suas estratégias gráficas. Por último, analiso a utilização da linha tracejada no meu próprio trabalho contextualizado pelo trabalho dos artistas examinados anteriormente. Através deste estudo comparado, pretendo evidenciar a importância de um olhar permanentemente atento que estimula quer a reflexão teórica sobre desenho quer o trabalho de tradução gráfica mais adequada para a realidade que se observa.

ABSTRACT

The text is constructed as a personal reflection of a draughtsman who simultaneously produces drawing and thinks about the translation of reality arising from this artistic practice. I propose an inventory of dashed lines found in the environments we attend and in the objects we manipulate in order to understand their integration potential and visual translation. On the other hand, I analyze the body of work of artists who use the dashed line, punctually or continuously, trying to understand their graphic strategies. Finally, I analyze the use of dashed line in my own work contextualized by the work of the artists examined previously. Through this comparative study, I intend to highlight the importance of a permanently attentive look that stimulates both the theoretical reflection on drawing and the work of graphic translation more adequate for the reality observed.

O texto é construído como uma reflexão pessoal a partir da prática diária do desenho. Ao ter começado a dedicar-me ao desenho em exclusividade a partir de 2012, ao mesmo tempo que desenvolvia a minha investigação de doutoramento com o tema "Da Presença do Desenho na Pintura: A Linha Transformadora", apercebo-me de que alguns resultados do meu trabalho dos últimos meses começaram a remeter para a prática da pintura. Ao refletir sobre suporte, materiais, ferramentas e técnicas de desenho e pintura procuro entender o processo que leva à diluição de fronteiras entre desenho e pintura no meu trabalho. As obras de Egon Schiele (1890-1918), Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966), Philip Guston (1913-1980) e Marlene Dumas (n. 1953) permitem encontrar uma genealogia para as zonas de contacto entre desenho e pintura, que possibilitam localizar alguma informação visual que tenho vindo a integrar no meu trabalho. Ao analisar o meu desenho, tendo-os como referência, procuro nas técnicas que utilizo (escorrimento, sobreposição de camadas de tinta acrílica, transparências, pincelada visível, superfície monocromática), nos materiais (tinta acrílica, tinta da China) e nas ferramentas (pincéis) encontrar razões que inevitavelmente levam a pintura a irromper no interior da prática do desenho. Este processo de círculo completo, que me levou do abandono da pintura a favor do desenho e agora, aparentemente, de volta à pintura, é o que me interessa dissecar em busca de pistas para a continuação da minha investigação teórica e visual.
